Welcome to the home of HIRBD – Hawaii Island Regional Business Directories. Our history goes back at least 23 years starting with The North Kohala Business Directory serving the communities of Hawi and Kapa’au. The current distribution in these areas is just over 2,400.
In 2020 the Waimea Business Directory, now in its 6th year, will transform into the Waimea/Hamakua Business Directory. Distribution will grow from the previous 7,300 folks in Waimea and surrounding areas, to over 11,000 now including Honoka’a, Paauilo, Laupāhoehoe, and Pāpa’aloa.
Our directories have become valuable resources and somewhat of a tradition. They were created so residents would have a quick and easy way to find local businesses and businesses would have an affordable way to reach their target market. Residents love them, too. The layout makes it quick and easy to locate businesses serving your area. And, since it only comes out once a year, most people keep it by their phone until the next year’s edition comes out. Some even keep back copies!
And our favorite reason to keep em handy??? LESS TIME on your devices!
Business owners love how affordable the prices are, and how useful it is to be seen by every household and business in the area that may need their products or services. Even though it’s a local publication, it’s beautifully printed in full-color and they’re proud to be listed in it. It’s truly the easiest phone book around.
Directories are delivered free to all postal patrons and businesses in the communities they represent.
Complimentary copies are given to the concierges at the resort hotels along the Kohala Coast. Additional copies can found in Waimea at Waimea Instant Printing, The Gallery of Great Things and Long’s Drugs; in Kohala at Paradise Postal; in Waikaloa at the Kuleana Rum Shack, or by calling 808-895-8769.
Going forward, our mission is to create additional community-based directories that will serve the needs of both residents and business owners. We were thrilled to include the Hamakua area all the way to Pāpa’aloa in 2020. We look forward to providing service to other areas of the island that would benefit from this valuable resource.
